Robert Downey Jr to team with True Detective creator for HBO project

“True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto and Robert Downey Jr are in talks for a drama project at HBO.

Pizzolatto would write and Downey Jr would star in the show which, according to Variety, will be a series based on Downey Jr’s “Perry Mason” reboot.

Downey Jr had been developing the reboot as a feature film at Warner Bros. for several years, however it never found its footing. The original  “Perry Mason” starred Raymond Burr and ran on CBS from 1957 to 1966.
