Ryan Reynolds reprising Green Lantern? Doubtful!

A couple of days back word hit that a locker room full of hot lads were up for the role of Hal Jordan in Warner’s “Green Lantern Corps” movie. Among the names on the list, original big-screen ‘Lantern’ Ryan Reynolds.

While it’s fairly unlikely that Reynolds will want to reprise Jordan, after the dismal performance of 2011’s “Green Lantern”, let’s remember he went back to the Wade Wilson-Deadpool well after first playing him in the undeniably-crappy “X-Men Origins : Wolverine”. So, there’s always the chance he will want to redeem Jordan, in the same way he did Deadpool (with this year’s ”Deadpool”), if the material is much stronger and much more aligned to what he’d like to do with the character. But considering Reynolds’ commitment to Marvel’s “Deadpool” series, not forgetting the fact he has a couple of “Deadpool” films that’ll be hogging his time over the next couple of years, it’s highly unlikely the actor will want to cross superhero streams – particularly around the same time. Further, I’m not sure Reynolds has ever been as big a fan of Green Lantern as he has been Deadpool.

Meanwhile, another rumoured contender, “Man from U.N.C.L.E” actor Armie Hammer tells The Wrap that he’s heard nothing from Warner in regards to the project.

“I saw the reporting too. That’s the first I’ve heard of it.”

Hammer’s comments suggests we shouldn’t put too much stock into the shortlist, which also included the likes of ageing action-hero Tom Cruise, Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, and funnyman Joel McHale.
