Schwarzenegger to star in hardcore action thriller The Last Stand!

First things first, to my college buddy who still has my blockmounted “Total Recall” poster – which, I recall seeing hanging on your wall about ten years ago or more- I want it back.

(Waits for phone to ring. Courier to ring doorbell. Email to arrive).

Seems Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t just going to be restricting himself to cartoons, the former Governor of California – whose new cartoon series “The Governator” has been spruiked quite a bit over the past few days – is headed back to the live-action genre — and soon!

/Film has learnt that the actor – who has reportedly been offered everything from new “Terminator” and “Running Man” sequels to the odd historical war epic – is eyeing “The Last Stand”, a Jee-Woon Kim thriller about ”a lone border sheriff tasked with stopping an escaped drug dealer from crossing into Mexico in a super car.” Schwarzenegger, naturally, would play the sheriff.

The Hollywood Reporter, confirming /Film’s scoop, says the Lionsgate project may be in front of the cameras as early as late August. I’m damp.

It’s amazing how much interest there is in Arnold again; in the late ’90s, just before the big guy announced he’s going to run for office, and after years and years of delivering hits, Schwarzenegger couldn’t open a movie. Remember the jaw dropping when “End of Days” underperformed? What about seeing “The Sixth Day” in an empty cinema? It was rather sad, actually. Still, seems everyone’s missed Schwarzenegger – including the investors.
