Seth MacFarlane scares Adam Sandler off western comedy

Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler has postponed his comedy western for Paramount and will instead next star in a romantic comedy for Warner Bros, reports Deadline.

The “Ridiculous 6”, which Paramount planned to make after Sony gave it up, will likely not make it before the cameras before sometime next year.

The rom-com, which Sandler is expected to get going on pretty quickly, is untitled but is said to revolve around blended families. Drew Barrymore, Sandler’s co-star in “The Wedding Singer” and “50 First Dates”, is up for the female lead.

Here’s the synopsis : After a disastrous blind date, Jim and Lauren find themselves, each with their kids from a previous marriage, stuck together in a resort for families. Despite everything they can do to resist, the attraction grows between the two, and their kids benefit from the growing relationship.

One can only assume Sandler got nervy about competing with hit maker Seth MacFarlane, who also has a western comedy in the works; if his last flick “Ted” is anything to go by, MacFarlane’s “A Million Ways to Die In The West” will likely to take a big cavernous-sized nibble out of the box-office, in theory squishing any similar-themed films.
