Caffeinated Clint
A couple of days ago, Kevin Smith dropped hints that he might be sequelizing one of his classics – no, the other one. And now he’s confirmed it, “Mallrats 2” is on the way!
Speaking to Rock102 Mornings with Shmony & Carolina, Smith said “It’s half a script right now, and we’re pulling our loot together. We’ve got up until the beginning of 2016. By the time we get to May 2016, we’re going to be shooting.”
Smith is currently prepping for “Clerks III”, which begins in May, then he’ll do his hockey comedy “Hit Somebody” and a horror film called “Moose Jaws”.
On why he wanted to do a sequel to a film that wasn’t all that popular upon it’s initial release, Smith said “Lately I’ve been doing this thing where I’m like, ‘Do you want to do what’s good for your career, or do you just want to have fun?’’..Nobody’s clamoring for a Mallrats sequel, but I would love to make one. It’s been like 20 years.”
No word if the new film will star originals Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Jason Lee, and Joey Lauren-Adams, but I think we can expect at least a couple of them to make appearances.
