Silver and Black gets director and production date

“Spider-Man” spinoff “Silver and Black” is set to begin production this fall, and has got a director in Gina Prince-Blythewood. The flick will focus on Spider-Man characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat.

According to THR, the film will be produced by Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal, and written by Chris Yost, who worked on the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok”.

In the Marvel comics, Silver Sable is a hunter of war criminals, and her mercenary status sometimes brings her into conflict with other superheroes. Her tie-in to Spider-Man is that she’s often seen as his ally. Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy, is a cat-burglar who assumes her identity as Black Cat following trauma at the hands of her boyfriend. She ends up falling in love with Spider-Man and often works alongside him.

No word on it yet, but you’d think Spider-Man would appear in the spinoff. His next movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is due for release in July and “Venom”, starring Tom Hardy, is also on the move.
