Sydney Opera House movie in development

A film about the building of Australia’s iconic Sydney Opera House is in the works.

Currently titled “Utzon, the Man Behind the Opera House”, the Danish/Swedish/Australian co-production has Petter Skavlan attached to write the script.

The film will centre on Danish architect Jørn Utzon, who won the international competition in 1957 to design the building that came to be the Sydney Opera House. However Utzon resigned in 1966, seven years before the building was completed and opened, due to political infighting and budget constraints.

Producers are Jan Marnell of Right2Screen, Marian Macgowan of Macgowan Films and Peter Herbert. Exec producers are Ole Søndberg of Good Company Films and Right2Screen’s Lars Weiss.
