1. Less than 6 weeks after it was cancelled, Lifetime has announced it’s bringing back Drop Dead Diva for a fifth season.
2. Anna Friel is joining Kyle Chandler in the Ridley Scott produced pilot, “The Vatican”.
3. Former “CSI” star Marg Helgenberger is back at CBS for the new drama “Intelligence”, ”centered at U.S. Cyber Command and focuses on a unit that has been created around one agent with a very special gift — a microchip has been implanted in his brain that allows him to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum.” Josh Holloway is already onboard.
4. Blumhouse Productions has announced a sequel to “Sinister”. Creators Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill will return to write the follow-up.
5. Liam Neeson will voice a mischevious, villain raccoon in “The Nut Job” for Warners. Katherine Heigl, Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Stephen Lang, Sarah Gadon, and comedian Jeff Dunham will also lend their voices.
6. “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons and former “Friday Night Lights” star Taylor Kitsch have joined HBO/Ryan Murphy’s “The Normal Heart”. ”The project tells the story of the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s. Parsons plays gay activist Tommy Boatwright, reprising his role from the 2011 Broadway revival. He was previously attached to Murphy’s adaptation when it was eyed as a theatrical feature. Kitsch plays Bruce Niles, a closeted investment banker who becomes a prominent AIDS activist.”
7. “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” is alive again! Panorama Media announced today they are joining Darko Entertainment, Handsomecharlie Films and producer Allison Shearmur in the production of Seth Grahame-Smith¹s worldwide best seller. Natalie Portman, originally onboard to star, stays on as a producer. David O.Russell wrote the script.
8. Scott Waugh is attached to direct a revisionist ‘Robin Hood’ film “Merry Men” for DreamWorks.
9. “Blue Bloods” alum Megan Boone will play the lead in NBC pilot “Blacklist”, about “Red, the world’s most wanted criminal who mysteriously turns himself in and offers to give up everyone he has ever worked with. His only condition is he will only work with a newly minted FBI agent, Elizabeth Keen (Boone), with whom he seemingly has no connection.”
10. Rebecca DeMornay (“The Hand That Rocks The Cradle”) has been cast as a lead in the new “Hatfields & McCoys” series. Sophia Bush and Nick Westrate have also joined. ”De Mornay will play the central character of Mary Hatfield, the Mayor of Pittsburgh and matriarch of the powerful Hatfields, who basically run the city through their development company and political connections.”
