“The Killing” may have been saved from a precipitate bereavement, returning soon to AMC for an unanticipated third season, but not everyone will be returning to town for whatever new murder mystery the writers have in store for us.
Billy Campbell, who plays the crippled Mayor on the temperamental drama, won’t be returning for the third season. Variety states no reason for the departure, but it wouldn’t be surprising to hear it has something to do with the show’s unexpected renewal. That has to have played a part, right?
Two others, Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton, also won’t be back next season.
So long as series stars Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos are front row center again, the viewers will likely tune back in.
