Tom Hardy has been cast in a Bosnian war drama entitled “My War Gone By, I Miss It So”, and will also produce the film. It’s based on the 1999 book of the same name by Anthony Lloyd, and serves as a personal memoir of Lloyd’s experiences during the Bosnian War. This includes his parents’ divorce, his estrangement from his father and his heroin addiction. Hardy will be playing Lloyd in the film.
Variety has the exclusive, including Hardy’s comments on joining the production: “‘My War Gone By’ is a brutal yet sensitive story which addresses both the nature of addiction and the experience of war,” Hardy said. “I was struck by Anthony’s work and words, experiences, and for me his is an important voice and an important book.”
Gavin O’Connor is slated to direct and produce the film, alongside Scott LaStatiti. Hardy can currently be seen on screen in another war film, “Dunkirk”, and has previously starred in “Mad Max”, “The Revenant”, “The Accountant” and “Inception”. He’s also set to star in “Venom”, which is due out in October 2018.
Lloyd’s book is a quite honest and full-on account of his time during the War, forming a personal account of a heroin junkie reporting from the front lines of Bosnia. He uses the “high” of war to kick his drug habit.
