Ric Roman Waugh to direct Angel Has Fallen, third movie in the series

The follow up to 2013’s “Olympus Has Fallen” and 2016’s “London Has Fallen” has found a director, with Ric Roman Waugh on board to direct the film. Gerard Butler is set to reprise his leading role as secret service agent Mike Banning, and Morgan Freeman is also back on board (via Variety).

The third film in the series takes a different turn to the previous two, which saw Butler’s character having to save the President. “Angel Has Fallen” will see Mike Banning himself become the target of terrorists, while on an Air Force One flight.

Butler will also produce the film with Alan Siegel and Danielle Robinson, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson will exec produce.

Waugh is known for his work on Felon (2008) and Snitch (2013), and has also been a stuntman in an extensive list of films.

No word yet on a release date, but it’s currently pencilled for 2018. Oh and for anyone else who’s wondering (cause I had to Google it), Air Force One is nicknamed “Angel”, hence the title. The more you learn…
