Tony Todd played the infamous “Candyman” in the 1992 film, and word is that the actor will return to the titular role for Jordan Peele’s reboot. Peele is producing the upcoming film, and Nia DaCosta is on board to direct from a script that was also co-written by Peele. It’s been described as a “spiritual sequel” to the original flick.
Production has begun in Chicago recently, and though it’s not been confirmed as yet, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that word is spreading that Todd will indeed be back. No announcement has been made yet for the lead character. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast to lead the film.
