Trailer : Terminator Genisys

A new trailer for “Terminator : Genisys” dropped overnight – and it sure does go out of it’s way to spoil the film’s few surprises.

While, like the first trailer, it played up the ‘future has changed’ arc that is prevailent throughout the movie (with heavy emphasis on the awkward relationship between gorgeous young Sarah Connor and crusty old droid Arnie), it also exposed audiences to another new-fangled addition : John Connor as a villain. Now while it doesn’t out and out say that the liquid rogue is Connor, and it’s likely just modeled in his likeness, obviously something’s happened in the future that enabled the leader of the resistance to score a bad doppelganger. Or, that is indeed Connor and he’s been fleshed out and gutted with some bot parts. Either way, this trailer gives that surprise away – and rather cheekily. It might’ve been a pleasant surprise, and scored better for the film, had Paramount opted to keep that twist for the film.

I’m very keen for the movie – yes, it looks less epic than the first two instalments in James Cameron’s money-spinning franchise, and the marketing has probably blown all of it’s surprises, but to see Arnold back in his signature role (and that of an 1984 incarnation, too!) alongside one of the hottest women on the telly right now, Emilia Clarke, is worth the price of admission alone.

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline.
Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…
