Unlike Bill and Monica, Hilary’s NBC biopic won’t be coming anytime soon

No Emmy for Diane, then?

The Hollywood Reporter says NBC’s “Hilary”, a reportedly factualized account of Ms Rodham-Clinton (Diane Lane was attached to play the part), has been cancelled due to a political shitstorm that started brewing the moment the network announced it.

Courtney Hunt’S Script reportedly fixed on “Clinton’s life as a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member from 1998 to the present. The script would have started with Clinton living in the White House as her husband Bill Clinton is serving the second of his two terms as president and would have included her likely run for president”, according to the trade.

The Republican National Committee voted Aug. 16 to boycott NBC during their presidential campaign, even though the 4-hour bio hadn’t yet been put into production, but the stance was enough to scare the network into reconsidering their plan.

Only person I feel sorry for here is Rosie O’Donnell, who was no doubt a lock to play Monica Lewinsky.

These ideas do, er, come and go. Sure to be something of a similar ilk on screens eventually.
