Have Uwe Boll and Billy Zane kissed and made up?
Seems so – they’ve just announced they’re doing another flick together (and apparently, one with a ‘message’ – um, what’s the message though, ‘Even bad director’s can get work’?). The mind boggles.
You’ll recall that just a few months ago Boll and Zane, who previously worked together on the mega-dud “BloodRayne”, were facing-off in court over monies the director thought he was owed by the “Titanic” actor.
Boll claimed that Zane was the one who suggested Romar Entertainment handle distribution of flop “BloodRayne”. The film’s budget was $25 million and brought in just under $4 million at the worldwide boxoffice. Not to dwell on it… but heck, the film did nothing at the box office because it was a terrible film – not because of the distributor! Does Boll not get that!?
So what gives!? You wouldn’t think Zane would even be talking to the guy, let alone working with him again. And if Zane’s such a loser, why would Boll even consider casting him in another movie? This makes no sense at all. But then, this is Uwe Boll we’re talking about.
According to The Province, “Janjaweed” – described as “somewhat of a departure” for Mr Boll – sees Zane and Kristianna Loken (also from “BloodRayne”) playing American journalists who are confronted with the dilemma of whether to return home and report on the atrocities they have witnessed or to stay behind to help victims.
Filming is to start in South Africa late February.
