A possible production schedule for Zack Snyder’s “Superman : Man of Steel” has surfaced. According to the brief, principal photography begins 22 August 2011 and shooting will run until April 2012. The post-production dates are said to be May 1, 2012 through November 2012. A number of websites received this information, and from the same source, so take it with a grain of salt for the moment. Well Go USA announced today that it has acquired North American DVD and Blu-ray rights to the new horror flick “Blood“, starring Aya Sugimoto and Guts Ishimatsu and directed by Ten Shimoyama, director of the international hit “Shinobi”. The press release tells us “Shimoyama mixes “erotic” vampires with ancient Samurai warriors making the pic the next evergreen horror classic from Japan”. “Blood” will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 15, 2011. I think it’s safe to say the ‘screener’ is headed towards extinction. Fox Filmed Entertainment (FFE) and iTunes are offering nearly 100,000 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) members Fox Searchlight Pictures’ “127 Hours”, “Black Swan” and “Conviction” in HD from iTunes for viewing on their iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac or PC, or with Apple TV on their HD TV. “Spartacus” producer Robert Tapert (also one of the geniuses – shut up wife! – behind “Evil Dead”) says the production is still on the hunt for a new lead. “We are looking at actors to play Spartacus,” Tapert said. “They’ve committed to going forward with a season two. Andy Whitfield who’s unable to play Spartacus will be recast. Wonder Woman just can’t get a break. David E.Kelley’s proposed TV reboot of the DC comic favourite has been rejected by every television network in town, it was revealed this weekend. Sources say that the show’s high production costs coupled with the failure of the similar-themed “Bionic Woman” reboot may have put off the nets. (Source : EW)
Filmmaker Gary Ross says the feature film adaptation of “Hunger Games” (which I actually just purchased for my wife to read) will be of the PG-13 variety. Ross, without confirming the film’s rumoured $60m budget, says “I’m not allowed to confirm the budget number, but I will say it’s enough money to make the movie well and not disappoint a single fan. It’s a lot less money than a lot of other franchises or tentpoles of the same stature. But I don’t mind budget constraints. A document outlining the characters and situations of the upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises” may have been leaked. According to the doc, the script features Deadshot and The Black Mask as the villains with the oft-rumoured Talia al Ghul making a brief appearance. In addition, “Apparently Nolan has merged the characters of Hugo Strange and Edward Nashton. Nashton, like Strange in the comics, figures out Batman’s identity and toys with him. Hugh Keays-Byrne has confirmed rumours that he’ll be a part of the “Mad Max Fury Road” cast when/if the film gets back up (“I understand we start again in a year, gods willing and the wind right!”).
