Which film stars are headed to TV this year?

Seems a number of them.

Lets take a look at who the networks are courting to headline pilots for 2010/2011.

Don Johnson
The “Miami Vice” and “Nash Bridges” favourite is the favourite to play a lothario hairdresser (a guy in his fifties who wants to stay young) in “Mann’s World”, a new NBC offering from “Sex and the City” honcho Michael Patrick King. Another film favourite, Ellen Barkin (“Switch”, “Sea of Love”) is being courted for the show.

Alex Russell
The Australian actor, soon to appear as the ‘villain’ in Ben C.Lucas’ divine thriller “Wasted on the Young”, is a favourite to take on the role of Patrick Duffy’s adopted kid in the “Dallas” reboot. His competition? “Desperate Housewives” stud Jesse Metcalfe.

Tim Allen
Disney/ABC want the former “Home Improvement” star back on the box. Allen – at one time rumoured to be Steve Carell’s replacement on “The Office” – is considering a new sitcom called “Last Days of Man”. Allen would play another Tim, Tim Fitzgerald, a guy who is fighting for his manhood in a world that is being increasingly dominated by women and that has declared the traditional man an “endangered species.

Ryan Philippe
The former teen heartthrob, who cut his teeth in movies like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Cruel Intentions”, looks set to star in the new crime-of-the-week drama “Poe” for ABC. Philippe would play legendary horror writer Edgar Allen Poe as he works the beat in 1840’s Boston.

Bill Paxton
James Cameron’s one-time go-to guy (“True Lies”, “Aliens”, “Terminator”) is just wrapping up the fifth and final season of cabler “Big Love” but already he’s being courted for a starring role in the new Shonda ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Rhimes new show “The Fixer”. Paxton would play a chap whose job it is to help celebrities and famous figures get their past their scandals and help fix their reputation.

Minnie Driver
The actress, who burst onto the scene in the mid-90’s with “Circle of Friends” (and to a lesser extent, “Goldeneye”), is up for the NBC comedy “Free Agents”. The series, based on the British offering of the same name, will be set within the world of PR executives.

Maria Bello
The acclaimed actress, known for her work in such diverse flicks as “Coyote Ugly”, “The Cooler” and “A History of Violence”, is the frontrunner to star in the U.S version of “Prime Suspect”.

Rachel Bilson
Rachel Bilson (“The Last Kiss”) may reunite with “OC” creator Joss Schwartz for his new pilot, “Heart of Dixie”. Bilson, who played Summer on the CW fave, would play a NYC doctor who inherits a medical practice in the middle of nowhere. Bilson, of course, would be too young to remember “Northern Exposure” so the pilot script likely reads ‘highly original’ to her.

Amanda Peet
The adaptable Ms Peet, most recently seen on the small screen in the short-lived but much loved “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”, may reunite with NBC for “Bent”. Peet would play a single-mother who hires a sexy ‘Surfer Dude-type’ to remodel her kitchen.

Zooey Deschanel
“(500) Days of Summer” star Zooey may follow sister Emily (“Bones”) to the small screen where she’s being courted for the untitled Liz Merriwether comedy previously known as “Chicks and Dicks” for Fox. Deschanel would play Jessica, a primary school teacher who, after breaking up with her boyfriend, moves in with 3 juvenile guys.

Christina Applegate
The “Married with Children”, “Jesse” and “Samantha Who?” star will likely head back to television this year. Applegate’s so popular with the networks that she’s in a position to pick and choose which pilot she likes best; at this stage it looks like the one-time Bundy fancies ABC’s “Good Christian Bitches”. That laffer focuses on a recently-divorced mother who moves back to the neighbourhood where she grew up.

Edi Cathegi
The “Twilight” and “My Bloody Valentine” star has joined USA’s “Wild Card”. The show tells of folks who get into trouble in Las Vegas and the people – lawyers, investigators – who have to help these people.

Amanda Detmer
The former “What about Brian?” star is returning to the small screen to play the ex-wife of a happily married man with two kids who just loves to complicate his otherwise perfect life. The show is called “Man Up” and is set up at ABC.
