World War Z 2 gets a director in David Fincher

David Fincher has had his name in the ring for nearly a year, and it’s finally been confirmed by Paramount Pictures chairman Jim Gianopulos that Fincher is the official helmer for “World War Z 2”.

Gianopulos told THR in an interview that the film is in advanced development stage, and that David Fincher will direct alongside Brad Pitt. He was very short for words about the project, giving nothing else away about the upcoming sequel to 2013’s “World War Z”.

Fincher’s last directorial effort was 2014’s “Gone Girl”, and has worked with Pitt on 3 other occasions – 1995’s “Se7en”, “Fight Club” in 1999, and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” in 2008.

“World War Z 2” has had a few setbacks in the last few years, including losing director J.A. Bayona earlier this year. The confirmation of director doesn’t bring on a new production schedule though, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer for those details, or someone has to sweet talk the tight lipped Gianopulos.

As long as there’s lots of zombies I’ll be satisfied.
