All the latest Spidey news

There’s a conglomerate of Spider-Man news circling the web at the minute, so here’s a handy guide to everything that’s going on.

Firstly, the trailers for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” have largely been the Iron Man show, but word is that Robert Downey Jr’s character won’t be back for the sequel. As Michael Keaton’s Vulture only has a deal for the one film, it’s not likely that we’ll see him beyond “Homecoming”, either. “Homecoming” will be Spidey’s (played by Tom Holland) first solo film since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course this means that other characters in the MCU can cross over and steal his thunder, which is what Iron Man is at risk of doing in the upcoming film.

However, though Iron Man likely won’t be in “Homecoming 2”, sources have told THR that another Marvel character will be making an appearance. Who that is, we don’t know, but there’s a whole universe of them to choose from. We will get to see Downey Jr as Iron-Man again though, with “Avengers: Infinity War” forming a reunion of the Marvel heroes.

Spider-Man spinoff Venom’s first solo film is set for release October 5 2018, and it’s been noted that the villain Carnage will feature in the flick. Tom Hardy is on board to play Venom, but no word on Carnage as yet. Director Ruben Fleischer hasn’t confirmed whether or not our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man will appear in the film, as Holland is only contractually bound to a trilogy of “Spider-Man” films.

Despite what the contracts may say, Sony executive Amy Pascal and Marvel President Kevin Feige have spoken about the possibility for Peter Parker to also cross-over into the “Silver & Black” movie, featuring characters Silver Sable and Black Cat. This project doesn’t have a release date as yet, but sources say they’re eyeing a fall shoot.

Not long now until “Spider-Man: Homecoming” hits the big screen, but in the meantime check out the clip below, with Peter Parker attending a high school party to increase his popularity. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is in cinemas July 6.
