Statham confirmed for Death Race 3000

Directed by Paul W.S Anderson

As Latino Review reported a few weeks back now, the trades are saying that Jason Statham (“Crank”) is as good as signed for the remake of the Carradine/Stallone classic “Death Race 2000” – now titled, “Death Race 3000”.

Originally set-up with Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner as producers, the film will now be captained by the corporal of crap, Paul W.S Anderson (“Alien Vs. Predator”).

The Universal Pictures project is a remake of Roger Corman’s 1975 cult classic “Death Race 2000,” which starred David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone. It was set in a dystopian America in which the president presides over an ultraviolent road race from New York to Los Angeles. One of the ways that drivers score points is by mowing down innocent bystanders using their heavily armed cars.

Its going to be a busy year for Statham – who also has “Transporter 3”, “Crank 2” and “The Brazilian Job” on his ‘to-do’ list.
