“Big Little Lies” was only scheduled as a short series of 7 episodes, but proved to be such a success that it’s returning for a second series. Variety have confirmed that Adam Scott will return as character Ed Mackenzie for the 2nd season, the husband of Madeline (Reese Witherspoon).
The first season was based on the book of the same name by Australian author Liane Moriarty, who is penning a new story for the second season. David E. Kelley will return to write and executive produce, and Andrea Arnold will direct all 7 episodes. Jean-Marc Vallée directed the first season, but will return to executive produce the second.
Scott joins returning cast members Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz. In addition, Meryl Streep will star in Season 2 as Perry’s mother.
