Exclusive : “Talk” of an Upgrade sequel, says star

Logan Marshall-Green, whose directorial debut “Adopt A Highway” opens in theaters today, has garnered more than a few new followers since his turn as augmented avenger Grey Trace in “Upgrade” (2018).
Though he initially saw it as a one-off, the success and critical acclaim of the film may have spurred Director Leigh Whannell and the powers-that-be to consider a follow-up. Still,  the decision on whether one goes lies with producer Jason Blum.

“I hope there will be another chapter in Upgrade”, Marshall-Green told Moviehole this week. “There is some talk but I can’t speak any further to it because they’re not official so a lot of that is going to be about me getting some bad whips to sit back down and reapproach the story, and Jason (Blum’s) ability and interest in it. So we’ll see, you know? I think it might have a future, but I don’t know, and I’ll let the adults make those decisions.“

Set in the near-future where technology controls nearly all aspects of life, “Upgrade” fixes on Grey, a self-identified technophobe, who has his world turned upside down with his only hope for revenge is an experimental computer chip implant called Stem.
