Zac Efron catches the McAfee virus, signs for Jungle film

Zac Efron is set to play king of the anti-virus software, John McAfee in a new project that’s being shopped at AFM this week.

“King Of The Jungle” hails from “Crazy, Stupid, Love” filmmakers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, and is penned by Emmy-winning duo Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.

Based on an article Joshua Davis published in Condé Nast’s Wired magazine about the wild true story of the rogue tech magnate, who cashed-in his fortune, left civilization and moved to the jungle in Belize, the film sees the “Greatest Showman” star play Wired journalist Ari Furman.

In the pic, according to Deadline, Furman arrives in Beliz for what he thinks is a run-of-the-mill assignment to interview McAfee, but once he arrives in Belize, he finds himself pulled into McAfee’s escalating paranoia, slippery reality and murder.

A previous incarnation of the film was set to star Seth Rogen and Michael Keaton as Furman and McAfee respectively.
