Just a few days after news hit that he’d be penning a sequel to his 2011 actioner “Safe House”, THR suggests Universal has made a further commitment to writer David Guggenheim by also greening his script “Black Box”.
The “Enemy of the State”-like project apparently drew bids from near all of the major studios, including Warner Bros who went so far as to pretty up the package by promising Bradley Cooper would star.
Universal, who worked with the former US Weekly editor turned screenwriter on “Safe House”, won out in the end though.
“Black Box” “is kicked into motion when Air Force One goes down over America. An investigator’s life is put in jeopardy when he discovers the plane’s black box, which contradicts the official cause that the plane went down due to technical issues.”
Sounds like a doozie.
