Alicia Silverstone returns to TV

The perpetually spunkalicious Alicia Silverstone, last seen in the gnawing advertisement for lack-of-finance “Vamps” (which reunited the siren with her “Clueless” director Amy Heckerling; probably why we expected so much from it), will front the new Lifetime series “HR”.

Good buzz surrounding this pilot, which follows the exploits “the uptight Director of Human Resources for a global company (Silverstone) who, after a head injury alters her outlook on life, throws standard corporate practices out the window and inspires the business to strive for new ambitions and profits. ”

Silverstone’s film career seems to be running on fumes these days, so this would seem a good move for the one-time Batgirl. The actress headlined NBC’s “Miss Match” back in the day; though enjoyable, and though Silverstone was a delight in it, the ratings didn’t reflect the reviews and it was canned.

The Glenn Porter-written “Samantha Who 2.0” “HR” should be on the air within the year.
