Amanda Seyfried joins Twin Peaks

Hot from her stirring turn in, er, “Ted 2”, Amanda Seyfried is returning to TV for a mystery role on Lynch & Frost’s “Twin Peaks”.

The event series, to air on Showtime in either 2016 or 2017 (nobody seems exactly sure; production was slightly delayed due to Lynch’s lingering negotiations), sees most of the cast from the original run – including Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Dale Cooper), Madchen Amick (Shelley Johnson), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), and Everett McGill (Ed Hurley) – returning alongside new faces.

No word yet on who Seyfried, whose last regular TV gig was on HBO’s “Big Love”, is playing… though one could easily speculate, because of her look and age, she’s the ‘Laura Palmer-type’ of the new season. She could easily play that too – and effectively. TV Line, who have the scoop, suggest she might even be the offspring of doomed lovers Cooper and Annie (Heather Graham). Yah, I can see that – definitely some ‘Roller Girl’ in Seyfried.

The versatile actress, who also starred in the “Twin Peaks”-inspired “Veronica Mars” (she played the Laura Palmer-esque Lily Kane on it), is said to be set for multi episodes. Which could mean two and it could mean 17.

“Twin Peaks” is currently shooting in Snoqualmie and North Bend, Washington.
