“The Ring 2” is said to be a bit of Aussie Invasion, with Naomi Watts now being joined by Simon Baker.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baker [TV’s The Guardian] is playing the male lead.
The trade doesn’t state it, but in a review of the script today at IGNFilmForce, it’s stated that his characters name is Max Rourke, a thirty-something who works at a newspaper that Rachel (Naomi Watts) has landed a job with. Seems Rachel and Her son have moved from Seattle to the “quaint mountain town of Asheville, Oregon where she’s landed a job at the local Asheville Gazette”.
Baker and Watts, both two of Australia’s most successful exports, are long-time friends.
