Ben Stiller circling movie about the Edison-Westinghouse feud

Ben Stiller is one of several directors said to be circling a new drama about the Edison-Westinghouse feud, says THR.

The Weinstein Company is in negotiations to produce and finance “The Current War”, penned by Michael Mitnick, whch Timur Bekmambetov was originally attached to direct.

Bekmambetov remains on as a producer, working alongside Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch.

The story takes place in the late-1880s and revolves around power titans Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse’s battle over the supply of electricity. Edison championed direct current (DC) for electric power distribution over alternating current (AC), which was backed by several European companies and Westinghouse Electric.

Meanwhile, the trailer for Stiller’s latest film “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” made its way online today.
