Breaking! Charlie Sheen fired from Two and-a-half Men!

Though not surprising, this is still disappointing.

Charlie Sheen has been fired from “Two and-a-half Men”, the show that single-handedly resuscitated the flatlining movie star’s career when he signed on eight seasons ago.

After a string of movie flops (“Fixing the Shadow”, “Good Advice”, “Five Aces”, “No Code of Conduct” – most of which he did with then producing partner Bret Michaels) and a short-lived stint on “Spin City” (he of course replaced Michael J.Fox when the actor was forced to bow out due to his battle with Parkinsons) CBS and Chuck Lorre transformed Sheen from ’80s has-been to high-paid, very popular TV star. “Two and-a-half Men” is today’s most popular sitcom.

Today, following his behavior of late (I don’t think I need to get into that, do I?), Warner Bros Television issued a statement saying they’re firing Sheen – Wild Thing, it seems, no longer makes their heart sing.

TMZ obtained an 11-page letter that was sent to Sheen’s lawyer from WB, explaining why the former’s client has been dumped from the hit TV show.

“Your client has been engaged in dangerously self-destructive conduct and appears to be very ill.” says the letter, suggesting that Sheen’s drug use has void his contract.

The letter says, “There is ample evidence supporting Warner Bros. reasonable good faith opinion that Mr. Sheen has committed felony offenses involving moral turpitude (including but not limited to furnishing of cocaine to others as part of the self-destructive lifestyle he has described publicly) that have ‘interfere[d] with his ability to fully and completely render all material services required’ under the agreement.”

Sheen’s lawyer believes that this is bullshit and the only reason Sheen was fired was because he insulted creator Chuck Lorre (to Sheen’s defense, Brett Butler and Roseanne Barr also couldn’t work with Lorre).

Sheen’s reaction to being fired?

“This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of their bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”

Um, yep – – that’s the guy we want for “Major League 3” right there.

CBS and Warner Bros Television have yet to decide whether or not to continue with “Two and-a-half Men”; should they decide to push on with the show, they’ll bring in a new character to replace Sheen’s – with internet rumours suggesting John Stamos and Rob Lowe are the favourites.

Where to now for Sheen? Hard to say; though in talks for the new “Major League” movie and said to be attached to a movie about Tango sensation Carlos Gardel, I think the only vehicle appropriate for Mr Estevez right now is one bound for rehab.
