Broderick’s done with Bueller

Tyro scribe Rick Rapier isn’t likely to see his name alongside the words ‘Ferris Bueller’, ‘Sequel’, ‘Broderick’ and ‘Spec’ in a trade any time soon – if ever (there’s always “WarGames 3”, Rick?).

You’ll recall Rapier as the penner of the sequel “Ferris Bueller 2 : Another Day Off”. The script did the rounds, but apparently never got so far as to its must-have star. And probably just as well, rejection is a bitch – – and sounds like that’s all Matthew Broderick’s handing out when it comes to “Bueller”-based opportunities.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s handbag won’t ever be in a sequel to John Hughes’ timeless school-wagging comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” – or at least not until he finds an age-reversing cream that isn’t spruiked by Dionne Warwick on the Home Shopping Network.

The actor tells The Star that he’s rejected all offers to reprise his role as cheeky highschooler Ferris in a sequel – and mainly because he doesn’t feel he can play such a juvenile character at his age.

“I can’t play young rebellious guys anymore,” Broderick sighed.

Ah, I dunno… it could be fun (and to Rapier’s credit, his script actually recognizes Broderick’s age – it’s set on the day of Ferris’s 40th Birthday).

Meanwhile, Eddie Murphy has responded to those friggin ridiculous “Batman 3” rumours that have him earmarked to play The Riddler.

Speaking through a publicist, Murphy (no doubt laughing his ass off in his trademark chortle between lines of dictation) told TVs Access Hollywood that it’s just “not true”.

Never did we suspect it was… but it sure was a bit of a yuletide pisser!
