John Scalzi’s Sci-Fi novel “Old Man’s War” also looks like it will be adapted for the silver screen.
Paramount Pictures has signed screenwriter Chris Boal to re-write David Self’s earlier draft of the screenplay based on the novel.
The story follows a 75-year old man who, after losing the love of his life, agrees to swap his ageing body for a younger, genetically-enhanced version in order to join a military coalition sent to protect human colonies in outer space. When he is injured in battle, he is rescued by a woman who appears to be a younger incarnation of his beloved wife. Although she doesn’t recognise him, he decides to risk everything by abandoning his unit in order to be with her.
Wolfgang Peterson (“Troy”) will direct the project, which is his first since the reboot of “Poseidon” in 2006.
