Ok. I’m going to say it. ‘Skyfall’ is my favorite Bond film EVER. I know, big call, but Sam Mendes won me over by grounding Bond in reality, making the story personal to him, bringing on Javier Bardem as a dangerous villain, upping the stakes, adding more beautiful Bond girls… while at the same time both tipping it’s hat to the 50 years of Bond AND pushing him into an exciting future. I guess they put that extra pre-production time (when MGM went bankrupt) into good use!
