Disney, Ronan don’t want Snow White in their movie anymore

“Hannah” star Saoirse Ronan, next in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host”, has been cast as the lead in “The Order of the Seven”, says Variety.

The film that originally started out as “Snow and the Seven”, but with two other “Snow White” movies in the works – plus the umpteen B-grade knock-off’s and SyFy projects that are no doubt in the works – Disney decided people will have had their fill of Snow White and reconstructed the project to be a stand-alone Non-Grimm flick.

Ronan would play Olivia Sinclair, a British expat in 19th century Hong Kong, who seeks the protection of a centuries old group of warriors, now a jaded group of outlaws. After the reemergence of an ancient evil empress, Sinclair helps the warriors reclaim their destiny and noble roots.

The original Michael Chabon-penned incarnation of the film, in development since 2002, included a magic mirror and an evil stepmother.

Michael Gracey directs the retooled “Seven”.
