It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about “XXX : The Return of Xander Cage”, which was said to reteam original “xXx” duo Vin Diesel and (director) Rob Cohen, and according to some reports, the film had gone bellyup. Not so, according to Diesel.
I had a chance to speak to Diesel at the “Fast Five” junket in Rio (!) this past weekend where he gushed over the character and hinted that an announcement could be just around the corner.
“There are these rumours about xxx 3”, Diesel says, “But without giving too much away, that’s the character I can really sexy with.”
In other words, yes, he’s still interested and by all indications, the project is still a go.
Oh, and yes, Diesel and Cohen are quite aware that they killed off Diesel’s character – in the short film that’s on the “xXx 2 : The Next Level” DVD – but like Billy Zane in “Dead Calm”, nobody stays dead in moviedom.
Is there an appetite for a Vin Diesel-led “xXx 3” – you tell me?
