Fincher directing Utopia; Steve Jobs biopic may be dead

“Gone Girl” helmer David Gincher looks to direct every episode of HBO’s “Utopia”, a drama based on a U.K cult series.

The project would reunite Fincher with “Gone Girl” author and scripter Gillian Flynn, who would produce the series.

“I like the world of it,” he tells The Guardian. “I like the characters – I love Dennis’s [Kelly, creator of the UK show] honesty and affinity for the nerds. I mean, I’ve always been a bit of a junior conspiracy theorist cos I don’t have time to connect them all! But it’s nice to see that somebody has.”

Film wise, Fincher doesn’t know what he’s doing next – but it likely won’t be his proposed Steve Jobs biopic.

That “was definitely a possibility, but it got very sideways very fast”, he says of the film, which Christian Bale might’ve played Jobs in.
