Hold onto ya holsters! Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday ride again!

I don’t really get excited about comic book movies, or films based on video games, or even, I gotta say, sequels anymore. Nope, I tell the only genre that really raises my eyebrow? the Western – and, thinking back, it always has.

From “The Magnificent Seven” to “High Noon”, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and more recent dust n’ dames efforts like “Unforgiven”, “Tombstone” and “True Grit”, I’m a sucker for all things 19th Century American old West.

Don’t ask me what it is about the western – maybe it’s that a western transports us to a time long, long ago, maybe it’s the idea of guys carrying pistols around and popping whoever they see fit, or heck, maybe I just think they’re fun – but I just know if the synopsis of one encompasses the words ‘Buzzard Bait’, ‘Saloon’ and ‘Winchester’, I’m in.

One announced today has really sparked my interest, it’s called “Wild Guns”, is over at WB, and is said to be a combination of George P.Cosmatos’ “Tombstone” and the recent “Sherlock Holmes” reboot. In the flick, Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday are charged with the task of rescuing the daughter of Sitting Bull after she is kidnapped by a powerful Shaman.

It’s the second of two movies recently announced that proposes to retell the Wyatt Earp legend – or, in the very least, replay one of Earp’s numerous adventures.

Now that excites me!
