Holland, Plummer are the Spider-Man frontrunners

Long-rumored ‘Spidey’ candidate Asa Butterfield is no longer in the running, according to The Wrap’s Jeff Schneider.

Schneider, appearing on the Meet the Movie Press podcast, says the “Ender’s Game” actor is out of the race and it’s now down to Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer and Matthew Lintz.

Marvel wants Plummer, Sony wants Holland. The studios are now caught up in an argument to see who gets their way. At this stage, the mostly likely actor to get the gig is the Holland, because Plummer is a minor and won’t be able to work the same work hours as the older Holland will.

The new Spider-Man will make his debt in next year’s “Captain America : Civil War”.
