It’s a greenlight for Billy Crystal’s new TV show!

FX has ordered 13 eps of “The Comedians”, a comedy starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad.

Crystal will play a comedy veteran who is reluctantly paired with a young up-and-comer in the business (Gad). The series will also feature Stephanie Weir, Matt Oberg and Megan Ferguson.

With the premiere targeted for next year, the show will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the battle of the egos at a late-night sketch comedy show.

“We’re incredibly excited about ‘The Comedians’ and the fact that Billy Crystal will be making his return to series television on FX. The chemistry between Billy and Josh is amazing,” said FX’s president of original programming, Nick Grad.

“The Comedians” will see Crystal return as a regular on a TV series for the first time since his late 70s show “Soap”.

Gad, who has made TV appearances on “New Girl”, has recently struck big voicing Olaf the snowman in Disney’s “Frozen”. He also appeared in “Wish I Was Here”.
