Soul Sister cum Screen Siren Mary J.Blige is in talks to star in the feature film adaption of the acclaimed musical “Rock of Ages”.
Adam Shankman (“Hairspray”) is directing and choreographing the pic.
“Rock of Ages” is a real love letter to tunes of the ’80s – infused with tunes by all the ‘great hair’ bands of the decade, including Bon Jovi, Poison and Journey. Its “1987 on the Sunset Strip” and “a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA’s most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s.”
Tom Cruise, previously rumoured to be in talks for a role in the film, is still mulling over an offer.
According to Vulture, Blige would play Justice Charlier, “the owner of the Sunset Strip’s exotic dance venue the Venus Club.” while Cruise would play Bret Michaels-esque rock singer Stacee Jaxx (the role Australia’s Mig Ayesa played in the stage version).
