Miami Vice consulting on Tarantino’s new Western!?

That hairdresser series he was doing for cable (that didn’t get picked up) was supposed to be his big comeback but seems Don ‘Sonny’ Johnson is getting his name back in the papers for a different gig.

The former “Miami Vice” and “Nash Bridges” star has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained”, according to Variety.

Johnson, who had a role in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete”, will play the role of wealthy plantation owner Spencer Bennett in the spaghetti western.

Bennett is said to oversee a stable of black prostitutes he calls “ponies” , one of whom is the title character, in the film.

Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouett and Franco Nero (supposedly) feature in Tarantino’s film, due out next year.
