Pitch Perfect 3 pushed back to December 2017

Universal has pushed Elizabeth Banks’ “Pitch Perfect 3” back from the middle of next year to December 22, 2017.

Previously set for release on July 21, the film will now open against “The Croods 2”, “The Six Billion Dollar Man” and an untitled Warner Bros comedy.

Th studio has put director Malcolm Lee’s “Girl Trip” in the July 21, 2017 slot, where it will open against Luc Besson’s “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, World War II thriller “Dunkirk” and animated film “Ferdinand”.

“Girl Trip” follows four lifelong friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. There, sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.
