God, I still remember playing the old Atari game “Missile Command”. I bet if I went scouring through the cupboards back home at my dad’s place the game would still be there – was a couple of years ago. Unsurprisingly, since every other game seems to be getting the big screen treatment, “Missile Command” is being turned into a film. Fox have tapped Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, writers of “Dracula : Year Zero”, to pen the script. (more…)

David Fincher’s long-gestating film adaptation of the Dark Horse comic “The Goon” is still in the works, but because it isn’t “Tangled” or “Yogi Bear”, no studio wants to touch it – yet. “Animation that isn’t singing furry animals is hard. Especially something as outré as Eric Powell. And it’s his script! (laughs) It’s main-lined Eric Powell. We kind of went out with it at the end of the year and I don’t know that a lot of people were paying attention, but hopefully someone will step in and want to (pick it up).” (more…)

Bill Murray will make or break “Ghostbusters 3”. If Murray likes the current script, and agrees to do the movie, then the movie will be made; if the actor nixes the script, and vetoes a Venkman reprise, then the sequel will be canceled (more…)

“Entourage” scene-stealer Jeremy Piven and Mike O’Malley (“Glee”) have joined the cast of the new Miley Cyrus action-comedy “So Undercover”. The Tom Vaughan directed film tells of a straightlaced FBI agent who goes undecover in a college sorority. Look out for Gilbert and Lewis, Miley! (more...)

If Arnold Schwarzenegger agrees to do another “Terminator” movie, it’s rumoured he’ll be playing numerous characers. He’d play a human character as well as a thousand or so clones of his T-800. Likely to happen? I’d say more chance of my daughter going to bed by 9pm this week. (more…)

“Deadwood” duo John Hawkes and Molly Parker will reunite on the indy drama “The Playroom”. The Julia Dyer directed film is set in the ’70s and tells of some children who ‘escape’ to the attic, leaving their parents to their mundane existence down below. (more…)

“Fast Five” hasn’t even been unspooled (not that it ever will… in this ‘Digital’ age) and there’s already plans for a sixth “Fast and the Furuous”. Producer Neal Moritz says, “In Vin and my mind we already know what the sixth movie is, we’ve already been talking about it.  Vin and I have had numerous conversations about what that might be. And we’re starting to get serious about it right now. We just finished the movie like 4 or 5 weeks ago and we just needed a break, and now we’re gonna start focusing on that.” (more…)

Anchor Bay will release Steven R.Monroe’s “I Spit On Your Grave” remake on March 16 in Australia. The original will also be released – on DVD and Blu-ray – on the same date. The films will be available in the United States from Feb 8.

The producers of “Smallville” are ‘cautiously optimistic’ that Michael Rosenbaum will be reprising his role of Lex Luthor for the last few episodes of the show (more…)
