Ronda Rousey steps into Patrick Swayze’s Road House role

UFC fighter and actress Ronda Rousey (“Furious 7”, “Entourage”) is set to star in a reboot of “Road House”, the 1989 cult classic starring Patrick Swayze.

Rousey will play the role originally made famous by the late actor. He played a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce, ultimately tasked with protecting the town from a corrupt businessman.

According to Variety, Rousey “embraced the idea of starring in a remake, but wanted to be respectful when pursuing the project. Sources say Rousey recently reached out to Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, to ask for her blessing, which Niemi gladly gave.”

Production will likely begin next year with MGM currently meeting with screenwriters.
