Stolberg & Goldfinger’s Saw spot

You can’t keep a tired franchise down.

A few years after the promised ‘Final Chapter’, Lionsgate is bringing Aussie-conceived wunderkind “Saw” back to the mulitplex.

According to The Tracking Board, “Piranha 3D” scribes Josh Stolberg (go Josh! Now this has a chance of being as slick as Armani!) and Pete Goldfinger have been tapped to work the libretto on an eighth instalment of the fiscally-friendly series. It’s not known whether “Saw : Legacy” will be a complete reboot (something Lions Gate were considering a couple of years back) or a continuation of the Tobin Bell-starring movies. Whatever the case, there’s bound to be room for Jigsaw in there somewhere.

Talking of making room for the vitals, “Saw” brainchildren James Wan and Leigh Whannell will executive produce the new chapter.. in terror.

“Saw : Legacy” (the title makes me think it’s a film set in the Saw-universe… but won’t require the likes of Mr Bell.. or, for that matter, a Cary Elwes cameo) hits cinemas 2017. And remember kids, if you don’t want to sit through half-an-hour of commercials beforehand, you need turn up to the theater about 25 minutes after the given session time. Thank me later.
