The Friday the 13th redo just got realer

Writers hired for remake of 80s classic

And I was hoping the studio had forgotten all about it. If only we were so lucky.

A “Friday the 13th” remake – apologises for swearing; I know ‘remake’ is a dirty word – is moving closer to production thanks to the hiring of scribes this week. The Hollywood Reporter says Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (“Freddy vs. Jason”) have been tapped to pen the redo.

Unlike the original though – what? It’s not a Xerox? Give it time, heh – this one won’t feature on Jason’s mother (the killer in the original film; Jason didn’t actually make an appearance until the sequel) but the hockey-masked killer himself, so it’s getting a bit of a shake-up.

Still, despite having the smarts to do something different with it, do we really need it? And didn’t they hear of the big drop in takings for Rob Zombie’s “Halloween”?

Stopping Power indeed
