Alicia Vikander’s Tulip Fever gets July release

The Weinstein Company has given “Tulip Fever” a limited US release on July 15.

The period drama stars Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Christoph Waltz and Judi Dench with Holliday Grainger, Jack O’Connell, Zach Galifianakis, Matthew Morrison, Tom Hollander and Cara Delevingne.

Justin Chadwick directs from a script by Tom Stoppard, based on Deborah Moggach’s novel of the same name.

Set in 17th century Amsterdam, the film follows a married woman (Vikander) who begins a passionate affair with an artist (DeHaan) hired to paint her portrait. They decide to run away together, and gamble on the booming market for tulip bulbs as a way to raise money to do so.

Producers are Alison Owen and Harvey Weinstein.
