Who’s directing G.I Joe?

Lets just say he doesn’t want his ‘Mummy’ anymore

Stephen Sommers, director of ”The Mummy” (and its sequel; he opted not to direct the next one – and its probably for the best the script’s a bit weak), has agreed to help bring toy fave ”G.I Joe” to life on the big screen.

Says IESB.net, “The word is that Paramount has offered Stephen “Mummy Wrangler” Sommers the task of bringing the next old school icon back to the big screen. It looks like rather than sticking with either the Skip Woods origin story or Elliot/Lovett’s more straight out adaptation they will be focusing on a mash-up of the two. What’s unclear is what this means for Sommer’s remake of When Worlds Collide which is supposedly in pre-production as I type this.”

Mark Wahlberg is already being touted as a possible lead. Toy Stores are already clearing shelves for the inevitable relaunch of the toy line.
