Monsters in Sam Mendes future

“Spectre” helmer Sam Mendes is in talks to develop and possibly direct an adaptation of the terrific Emily Ferris graphic novel “My Favorite Thing is Monsters”.

The project, says Variety, is set up with Bond home Sony – who won a bidding war for the rights to the novel.

The story follows a 10-year-old girl who tries to solve the murder of her enigmatic upstairs neighbor — a Holocaust survivor –while the interconnected stories of those around her unfold.

While Mendes has a few irons in the fire – including a reboot of “James and the Giant Peach” and “Lost in Austen”, which he’s onboard to produce – he’s yet to decide on his next project. Might this be it?
