Chris Pine is The Saint!

Chris Pine will play the title character in the recently-announced movie reboot of “The Saint”.

Per Variety, who have the scoop, ”While the fourth “Star Trek” film is still being developed, the studio saw “The Saint” as the perfect role for Pine as they wait for that script to be finished.”

Before he tackles Universal monster project “Renfield”, “Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher will bring Simon Templer back to the big screen.

The central character at the center of the TV series and feature film “The Saint”, Templer is a Robin Hood-esque criminal and thief for hire. Roger Moore played the character in the classic series, while Val Kilmer played the title role in the 1997 action thriller of the same name.

Paramount, who pursued the filmmaker after his success with Elton John biopic “Rocketman”, is hoping Dexter’s new take will be the first in a series of new films featuring the character.
