007 film shut down

A couple of days ago, mover-and-shaker Adi Shankar (the prolific producer of films like “Dredd”) posted another (he’s becoming known for it) commendable and terrifically entertaining short film on the net. Having done an unofficial ‘Punisher’ movie, a ‘Venom’ film, and more recently, a ‘Power Rangers’ short, Shankar decided to tackle something bigger this time around – the James Bond franchise.

Unlike those previous films, ‘In Service or Nothing’ was an animated film. In it, Sean Connery’s version of 007 looks back on his life as a hotshot spy, with the majority of the film’s 10-minutes fixing on a wild car chase. The short does something really different with Bond, and asks some pretty deep questions by the end of it’s stumpy duration.

Still, MGM – as you’d expect – didn’t want it out there, and had it shut down overnight. And unlike the “Power Rangers” short, which Shankar managed to get back online a couple of days after it’s copyright holders cried foul, Shankar says he won’t be reuploading the James Bond cartoon.

In a statement, Shankar said : “I have the utmost respect for MGM and the iconic character of James Bond, and although I believe my video is clearly a parody of James Bond, I will refrain from reposting it online out of respect.”

I’m sure you can still find it online if you look hard enough…
